Dave’s opener post
Got off to a slow start on sat because as usual we over did it on Friday night. I think we still did pretty good and were on the river by about 10am or so. My best fish was around a 12 inch brown caught on a nymph. Although, not an amazing catch it was my first fish on that bait. So that was pretty exciting. Other than that just a few other browns under 10 in and a handful of planter bows. Pretty successful day for me. My standards are pretty low so I left the day feeling pretty good about my catch.
- Tim’s(MonaBass) hot catch
- Small brown
late steel and fat brownies
Dave and i fished fridayt night and got a big burbot and a giant river sucker. the next day we planted about 50 norway spruces and a few apple trees and then hit the river. got into some trout, i got a nice 15″ and dave got the biggest of the day around 16″. the water was flowing fast which made for tough wading. there was one bed that had several active steelies on it, i pulled about an 8lb male off of it.
had some fun later in the night with the .22, click here for the video. 22 propane
Summer has Sprung
all the area rivers have been blown for about a week now and just getting back into shape. this was the blowout we needed to push the spring steel into the rivers. Gonna be great fishing from here on out, just a matter of how long it will last. Might be all done by april if these temps keep up. Did make it out trolling between the bars last night with daskins and goose. the fog was pretty wild. ended up 1 for 2 with both hit coming right off the bat on pink xraps behind boards. heres the one that found the net and grill.
aint got it
got pretty snaked out fri/sat/sun up at rubes. got slammed with snow, well over a foot fell on fri/sat which left a good 1.5′ on the ground. didn’t do much but night fishing. gunny got in a bit of fishing catching a couple browns and bows. river was flowing fast and high. Once this snow melts this week we should see a huge push of fresh fish which will officially start the springtime run. heres a video of us having a little fun one morning in the fresh snow. canoe condensed
Steelin
Gunny and I spent part of the weekend chasin steel. ended up 1 for 3 between the two of us and a couple dozen solid trout. here’s a shortened video of the one big buck landed~PIA06C
